How we confirm a true tank leak

The tank is dried first. Then every source above it — supply fittings, the relief line, the drain valve — is checked dry while the unit runs a heating cycle. If moisture reappears from the shell, a seam or behind an access panel with everything above it dry, the vessel itself is leaking. Internal corrosion is the usual cause: once a glass-lined steel tank rusts through, the hole only grows.
